Arashiyama is one of the most popular sites to visit in Kyoto. However, there is a lot that you should be aware of before visiting.
First, go early in the morning.
Second, understand that there is another forest that is generally portrayed as this one. The other forest is at the Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple, which I can find here.
Lastly, the easiest way to get to the forest itself is to enter the first section by the main street of Arashiyama. However, the second section, the less-crowded section, can be found by entering through the north exit of the Tenryu-ji Temple. You will get to enjoy the temple and skip the usually crowded first section.
Now that the vital details are out of the way, let’s talk facts about this place. Arashiyama was constructed as a decorative garden and was a favorite for the nobility that lived in the area. In 1967 the Japanese government decided to protect the bamboo groves and make them a national treasure.
