It is often difficult to get a clear view of Mt. Fuji because of the clouds and poor visibility. Your chances of seeing the mountain will increase if you plan to visit during colder months. A nice way to enjoy the scenery is by taking the train from Tokyo to Osaka on the Shinkansen in the direction of Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka. Or you can jump on the train around Shin-Fuji Station and enjoy the view for about 40-45 minutes. For the greatest view, you will want to make sure that you sit on the right-hand side of the train.
If you would rather take your time and enjoy a beautiful reflection on the water, check out the Fujigoko area. This is at the northern foot of the mountain. You can enjoy a hot spring over at Hakone.
