The Gion District of Kyoto is one of the city’s best-preserved historic districts.
During the ten days in March when Hanatoro, flower, and light road, are celebrated, the streets are lined with thousands of lanterns. Many of the shrines and temples will have extended hours and special illuminations.
Check out Ishibe Alley in this area, this street is not as well-known as Hanami koji but is absolutely fantastic. The alley is just a few steps away from the entrance of the Kodai-ji Temple.
