Grossmunster Zurich

There is a legend surrounding the church that tells the story of Charlemagne finding the graves of the city’s patron saints Felix and Regula. He decided to build a monastery on this site around 800 A.D. Recent archaeological discoveries have proven the existence of a Roman burial ground at the site.

Through the years, the monastery slowly was taken over by the University of Zurich and is part of it today. limb the 189 steps in one of the towers to get a great view of the city. There is also a museum located in the cloister.
