This railway station is very futuristic and an awesome sight to see. It was constructed on the 1,200th anniversary of the capital’s foundation in Kyoto and opened to the public in 1997. The Matrix, the large main hall, is a work of art with its exposed steel-beamed ceiling. The grid was designed to mirror the layout of Kyoto’s network of streets.

This is a transportation hub for the Japan and Kintetsu Railways and the Karasuma Subway Line. It is also a large bus terminal as well. If you need tourism assistance check out the two information centers in the building.
