Spanish Steps

• On June 13, 2007 a drunk man attempted to drive a Toyota Celica down these precious steps. Luckily no one was hurt but several of the 200-year-old-steps were chipped and scuffed.
• This is the widest stairway in Europe
• The poet, John Keats, died in the house beside the Spanish Steps of tuberculosis in February 1821 at the age of 25. You can still visit the Keats-Shelley House and even enjoy teatime on the terrace.
